-2005: My Sec 3 Year In SJI-

wow.. im finally reopening this blog... and no, not because i have blog trauma. -.- dont even know who started all that but nvm. 2005 for me personally was quite a great year, of course it had its ups and downs but generally i would say that there were more ups than downs. let start from the beginning then..

1st day of school: posted to class 323. and i was quite relieved to know that i was in 323, cuz originally i was posted to 325. dunno what would have happened to me if i went there.. anyway, 323, the only ex 206 with me is roderick.. and from what i can tell i think he doesnt really want to be in 323.. but anyway, meet a few people on the first day who turn out to be quite nice friends: nigel, sai chuen, almeric, gerald (ok so there may be some exceptions). then there were some who i only got to know later but turned out to be great friends: edmond, balu, kai chuen.. and i got selected for prayer leader. hmm.. i suppose its cuz rod had his prefect duty, if not he would have gotten it again.

as for scouts, we were officially sec 3, and we were stepping up this year. i wondered whether i should keep to what i actually wanted from the start or should i change my aim.. oh, and aravind joins us in scouts from malaysia too. =)) nice guy.

and then there is the sec 1 orientation camp for all the new sec 1s, and then the campfire. as usual the scouts stay back to prepare for the campfire and so i decided to help out.. and yes seeing all my other level mates as psl did indeed cut me.. but looking back at my previous blog, i understand why i didnt get the psl role.. but still quite sore about it.. but then again no point crying over spilt milk.. so anyways i stayed back to help out.. the campfire went quite nicely.. quote from sean lee's blog:"everything went smoothly. firelighting was editted last minute but was still a big success. I brought in the torch (such a memorable moment you know) *self-centred*, passed to TL who passed to Mr Lui. and torch burn small ball, small ball burn clothe, clothe burn big ball, big ball burn raffia and doink into the firepit it went. Marvellous!!!" lol.. sean..

and so sec 1s join scouts.. and these 3 join leopard.. and they are: willie, samuel koh and mark. hmm.. i thought willie was another potential best sec 1.. samuel koh was like samuel tee.. lol.. and mark was just.. lost... lol..

so that was the first part of the year.. got through the first term quite ok.. TA1 i came in 11th position, made the promise to myself: TA1 top 15, mid year top 10, and final year top 5. did i make it? find out later...

so then came the march hols.. and also my birthday, so had a celebration at my house. first time i had people over at my house other than javier and rod so was quite fun.. watched hitch, played ps2, and bbq.. haha..

so from there was basically mugging for the mid years.. and surprisingly i did manage to get into the top 10..

then had my rme retreat.. not going to recount the whole thing here, if u want to read about it just check the archives.. but yes i had a great time during the retreat, it was very meaningful

and then came one of the most major things of my scouting life thus far: UTC/PLTC. i really dont know what to say about it.. but honestly i thought that the idea of combining both PLTC and UTC was quite bad.. because there are some stuff which is considered acceptable for the sec 3s but not for the sec 1s and 2s, and these stuff were carried out in the previous PLTC, but for that reason the same thing couldnt happen. anyways.. pltc for me was.. fun?! well i dont know what to say about it, still can rmb the times when i stayed up late with aravind to do the gadgets for les frere, all the change parades, and also will never forget the iron team challenge.. to say that the camp was not tiring would be a lie, but then again.. hmm.. the previous years were worse.. but then again, i wonder.. and then i began to seriously look at what position i should aim for..

and then came lltc, for which to get in through scouts we had to actually write a letter to the scouters.. but then i got chosen by class com so i didnt get in through scouts.. but that doesnt really matter since i did get to go for lltc, which was truly an experience like no other. the highlights of the camp being the walk from sji to st pats, the fast food experience, creating a PMS, which btw is "be myself" which i think i have sort of followed and definitely the community service which we did. yup, lltc, be the difference!

and then came voting for scouts. and finally i saw how things in scouts could get so ugly. and yes my blog was mentioned from what i heard and i dont think it potrayed me too well, but wth. and so i thought i would go for the top 3. tl/spls. so the top 3 positions came down to 4 people: sh, kj, trent and i. but sh trent and i would not be around for the stepping up ceremony because we were away at....

EUROJAM!! the best thing that ever happened to me so far. haha, might sound kinda exaggerated but it was truly the most fun days of my life. meeting so many new people, learning their cultures, trading badges, observing how other people behave, dance tent, concerts, celebrate europe day, did i mention meeting people? lol.. but as much as it was fun it ended quite sadly for me... lets just say that by the time i decided to do something about how i felt it was too late.. but london was fun! =) sorry about not being able to get presents for everyone.. wanted to buy some chocs from the airport but then as some might know there were strikes so.. and my @$#$ camera deleted all my photos!!! arghs.. haix... sad.. oh wells, truly the best days of my life

and i come back to find out that i didnt get any of the top 3. well, i live with it. at least i got the sec 3 trainer role. and so managed to take my mind of scouts after that and concentrate on final year, and due to the 2 weeks that i was away i was really lagging...

and so i started mugging, got a tution teacher to help me with the subjects i missed and also to help me with revision.. and guess what? i did actually make it to top 5 for final years! woot! lol....... >.<

and then there was npc. i had mixed reactions to this. i didnt know whether i wanted to be in or not. cuz we were all just selected. and then there was trent who was always.. clashing with me? hmm.. but then we managed to put aside all that or at least not let it affect us too much and continue with the camp. and our campsite was well, i dunno what to say about it. it had the potential and yet it wasnt. it could have gotten us championship and yet we only got silver. something was wrong. and the problem lied with alot of things, but mostly us. it kinda sucked being the only person who got the gold and then a silver. thats for me personally, but i wish the future team all the best and good luck getting the championship. redeem pelandok.

and so dec has basically been rotting and dota-ing. that was for the most part when my family was away in hk. and then they came back.. and so i am in a mad rush to complete my hw. hahas... anyways.. signing off with this message: HAVE A SUPER HAPPY FUN TIME CHRISTMAS!!! =)
